COAS - We Want To Finish Operation In N/East

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Major General Faruk Yahaya, has said that the army under his leadership wants to finish operation in the North East and do other things.

Gen Yahaya stated this yesterday while briefing journalists during his maiden operational visit to the headquarters of Sector 2 Joint Task Force in the North East codenamed “Operation Hadin kai” in Damaturu, Yobe State capital.

Gen Yahay said, “We want to conclude this operation in the North East so that we can do other things, and that is the drive now. We would, by the grace of God, conclude it and go and do other things.

So also, while we conclude other challenges that are facing us, we are geared towards addressing all of them, and as you observed, we have been recording some modest successes in all areas and we intend to sustain that drive in doing that.

The COAS said the military, through collaborative effort with other services and other stakeholders and traditional leaders was determined to achieve that.

He added that, “I am here today on operational visit. I had been here few months as the theater commander when we came here with core commanders and other officers in respect of our operational activities here.

So, this place is well known to me. I have been here several times. It was from here we launched Operation Lafiya Dole. Operation Fire Ball is from here. We also launched Operation Tura Takai Bango when we entered the triangle and achieved some successes.”
